"When I found about what's really in fragrance, I almost stopped using sprays and candles completely"

Revealed: Are fragrances toxic? The truth about your favorite candles

"Note: I will probably never use traditional sprays and candles again!"

We all love a home that smells amazing but the sad truth is the majority of fragrances on the market are loaded with synthetic, artificial, and even toxic ingredients.

You see, I was obsessed with those Bath and Body works sprays and candles for YEARS.

I would have a candle in every room and gift them to friends and family for every holiday. I thought I was sharing something that would make them feel good.

But when I discovered the truth about fragrance, it almost made me stop using candles and sprays completely.

How would I know if my favorite scents were safe to use around my favorite people?

When I started to look into fragrance ingredients it led me to this huge discovery.

I'm talking about the fragrance loophole and just how many chemicals are hiding behind the word 'fragrance'.

Fragrance is considered a “trade secret” under the Fair Packaging and Labeling act, allowing companies to refrain from listing ingredients, so other companies can’t knock off their formulas.

The ingredient 'Fragrance' is used instead of disclosing the actual chemical ingredients, which could be hundreds or thousands.

Unfortunately, this gives brands an opportunity to add cheap (and sometimes toxic) chemicals to their products in order to make a scent stronger or last for longer.

I don't know about you but I like to know what I'm bringing into my home.

I'm using these products around my kids, my pets, and the people I love most.

The truth is, when fragrances boast of being:

  • "Made with Essential Oils"
  • "Natural"
  • "Clean & Safe"...

In many cases, these fragrances contain only a tiny 1% of genuine essential oils…

While a whopping 99% is made up of synthetic petrochemicals.

How do you really know if they're safe if they don't share their ingredients?

Understanding Misleading Fragrance Claims

Here's what I discovered about some common misleading claims:

  • “Made with Essential Oils”: In many cases, these candles contain only a tiny 1% of genuine essential oils, while a whopping 99% is made up of synthetic petrochemicals (artificially produced substances derived from petroleum, a non-renewable fossil fuel).
  • "Natural": The fragrance industry is not strictly regulated so this term lacks clear standards and may still include synthetic fragrances and harmful chemicals.
  • "Clean & Safe": While appealing, this claim can be used loosely and doesn't guarantee a product's safety.

Why Companies Make This Claim

You might wonder why companies opt for such misleading claims. The answer lies in cost-cutting and mass production.

Genuine essential oils and pure plant-based fragrance are expensive!

And using a tiny amount of them alongside cheaper synthetic petrochemicals allows companies to create candles and fragrances at a lower cost.

Unfortunately, this often means compromising on quality and the true essence of natural aromas.

The good news is there's something better, something that's 100% plant-based and actually smells even better than those synthetic fragrances.

This is Grow Fragrance and it's the first completely plant-based based fragrance. You get a house that smells amazing without the worry.

Yes, it's possible to make luxurious fragrances that smell amazing from plants!

And the best part is, you know exactly what you're bringing into your home because Grow Fragrance shares every ingredient. No hiding behind the word 'fragrance'.

And you might be thinking: "How have I not seen this before?"

Well, the truth is, those big fragrance companies DO NOT want this in stores. They just want you to keep buying their petrochemical products that are bringing harsh chemicals into your home.

While most 'natural' products I found can be ineffective and not even smell good.

Grow Fragrance is the complete opposite. I was skeptical in the beginning but after I got my order I'm NEVER switching back to my old candles and sprays.

The Clear Difference: "Made with Essential Oils" vs. "100% Plant-Based"

At first glance, they might seem similar, but there's actually a world of difference between the two.

In a nutshell, the main difference lies in transparency and authenticity:

  • "Made with Essential Oils": Typically contains only a small percentage of essential oils mixed with synthetic petrochemicals.
  • "100% Plant-Based": This label is the real deal, assuring you that all the aromatic elements come from natural plants, with no room for synthetic additives, backed by certifications like USDA bio-based testing.

Finding Truly Natural Options

Here's what you can do to find genuinely natural and safe fragrances:

  1. Read the ingredient list carefully: Look for transparent labeling and avoid vague descriptions like "fragrance" or "parfum."
  2. Seek third-party certifications: Look for reputable certifications like USDA Bio-Based or Made Safe.

The Alternative: 100% Plant-Based Fragrances

Before you feel disheartened, there's an authentic, natural alternative – 100% Plant-Based Fragrance, without hidden surprises.

When a fragrance is genuinely labeled "100% Plant-Based," it means every ingredient comes solely from real plants and nothing artifical.

But how can you be sure?

Well, the "100% Plant-Based" claim can be backed up by certifications obtained through USDA bio-based testing.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) rigorously tests products to ensure they are derived entirely from plants, leaving no room for doubts about authenticity.

Why Ingredient Transparency Matters

Ingredient transparency is vital when it comes to choosing a clean fragrance. Otherwise, how do you know their claims are true?

When you're bringing something into your home, you deserve to know exactly what goes into it!

Ingredient transparency empowers you to make informed decisions about the products you bring into your home and around your loved ones.
