How to Keep Sheets and Towels Smelling Fresh Longer

June 22, 2026

I used to think I was doing something wrong with my laundry.

Sheets out of the dryer: incredible. Two days later: flat. Not dirty. Just gone.

I tried different detergents. Scent beads. Fabric softener. Nothing stuck. And then I started doing one thing differently and it changed everything.

After clean sheets and towels are folded and on the shelf, I spray Grow's Linen air and fabric spray directly onto them before I close the closet door.

That's it.Β

The closet holds the scent. The fabric holds the scent. When you pull out a set of sheets four or five days later, they still smell clean. Not like a product β€” like they just came out of the dryer. And every time you open that closet door, it smells incredible.

We named this scent Linen because that's exactly what it smells like. Clean fabric. Fresh air. The smell of a bed you actually want to get into.

It's 100% plant-based with no petrochemical synthetic fragrance, and a veterinarian has reviewed our ingredient lists and dosages. Safe on everything that ends up against your skin.

A Few Other Things I Do

Make sure everything is completely dry before it goes on the shelf. Even a little moisture trapped in a tight fold is enough to make sheets smell stale before you ever use them.

Fold a little looser than you think you need to. Fabric that can breathe holds scent longer.

Wash pillowcases more often than everything else. Your face is on them every night. They turn faster than flat sheets do and they're the first thing you smell when you walk into the bedroom.

For towels: hang them fully open after every use, not folded over the bar. The fold traps moisture in the center. That's where the smell starts.

But honestly? The spray is the thing. The rest is just maintenance. The spray is what makes you notice.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long should clean sheets stay fresh in a closet?

Properly dried and stored sheets can stay fresh for a week or two. If yours are going flat faster than that, try spraying Grow's Linen spray directly onto them before closing the closet. The fabric holds the scent between washes.

Why do my sheets smell after washing?

Usually they weren't fully dry before folding, or they sat in the washer too long before going into the dryer. Transfer to the dryer immediately and run it a little longer than you think you need to.

Can I spray Grow's Linen spray directly on sheets and towels?

Yes. It's made for direct fabric use. Spray onto stored linens, let dry, and the scent stays with them. Plant-based, no petrochemical synthetic fragrance, and a veterinarian has reviewed our ingredient lists and dosages.

How often should I wash my sheets?

Every one to two weeks for most people. Pillowcases more often, ideally every week.

What's the best way to store sheets so they don't smell musty?

Dry completely, fold loosely, and spray Grow's Linen spray onto them before closing the closet. It gives the fabric something to hold onto until you need them.

If you want to try a few scents before committing to one, the Fresh and Clean Pack is a good place to start.
